Breakthrough in detection of disorders
PENANG: Universiti Sains Malaysia’s Doping Control Centre (DCC) has made a break-through by being the first in the country to commercially introduce a screening test to detect 25 metabolic disorders in a newborn baby. |

Sports testing includes screening and confirmation procedures for all classes of banned drugs (>400). Our procedures have been constantly upgraded to meet the dynamic changes and requirements in the WADA list. The prohibited substances and methods of doping include stimulants, narcotics, diuretics, beta-blockers, beta-2-agonists, anabolic steroids, peptides, mimetics and analogues, blood doping, plasma expanders, and pharmacological, chemical and physical manipulation.

Determination of drug residues and chemicals in food and feed include antibiotics, pesticides, 3-monochloropropane-1,2-diol (3-MCPD), β-agonists, polychlorinated dibenzo-dioxin (PCD), polycholorinated dibenzo-furan (PCB), and polychlorobiphenyl (PCB). These residues and chemicals are toxic or carcinogenic to human health.
